The myRide awards ceremony was held at the Region of York’s Administrative Centre on Yonge St. in Newmarket on June 5, 2014.
This was a moving event – no pun intended – because this program helps residents who for a variety of reasons, have barriers to using public transit. This program helps persons with language barriers, intellectual or physical handicaps and others who want to access public transit for school, work, or social events but have encountered difficulties with access. Through this program, parents, students, residents find the freedom of travel on their own! myRide is partnered with York Region Transit and affilliated with the Centre for Immigrant and Community Services; the Community Living York South; the ABLE Network and the York Region District School Board.
